Published Research from 11 countries showed diabetics consuming millets as part of their daily diet saw a drop in their sugar levels 12-15% and blood glucose levels went from “diabetic to pre-diabetes levels”.

The HbA1c (blood glucose bound to haemoglobin) levels lowered on average 17% for pre-diabetic individuals, and the levels went from pre-diabetic to normal status.

How millets release glucose? We've always heard a How millets release glucose?

We've always heard and some what believed that millets are good for diabetics, their slow-release mechanism helps to release glucose over a period time, etc

So if you never believed it, it's ok, neither did we 😉

I thought of trying it out and see if there's really proof in this pudding called millets ? I went to putting on a CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) device as I wanted to see this first hand on myself.

The results are shocking :

Millet lunch :
The glucose dips a bit and goes upto 105 and after 2hrs it's down below 100

Millet snack with coconut water :
The glucose dips a bit, goes upto 115 and after 2hrs it's below 100

Millet dinner : 7pm
Glucose spikes to 100, dips to 90, gives a second spike to 115 around 8pm and 2hrs post it's 105

Other carbs like wheat and rice give one big spike and drop and this is very fast leaving you hungry and craving for more carbs, specially sweet desserts.

Getting out of this loop is simple, there's a solution available and it's having a millet meal for dinner. The glucose is fed the right way, satiating hunger and there are no more cravings once you make this a habit.

Like, share or comment to try this very effective strategy and spread the word!

Personal experience...part 2 The most important h Personal experience...part 2

The most important hack (and trust me words don’t do justice) I’ve realized is - WALKING. You don’t need a gym, expensive machines and trainers, no marathon training, no waking up at 5am sprints and definitely no weight lifting. Just plain simple 10min walk every time you eat a meal is “the most miraculous hack” I’ve found. Doctors recommended a 45min-1hr walk everyday is required for good health. But this 10min walking thing is truly magical. And this is for any and every age, specially if you’re obese (and don’t want to harm ur knees), for people above 60 and even for people like me with multiple leg surgeries for a fractured femur.

I was shocked to see what walking 45min a day (15min each time and spread across the day) can do to my blood sugar and BP readings. The difference after a meal with walking and without was pretty stark. My sugar levels started to fall and so did my BP and all this came with a side-effect - weight loss! Aint that a great side effect to have instead of what the pills give us ?

So start walking for 10mins after every meal and see how the magic unfolds for you. Walking is not an exercise, its a lifestyle, one that you need to adopt ASAP.

PS : I am off all pills since I adopted this Lifestyle called “Walking”, made changes to the food I eat and living a Medicine and Disease (I call it a MAD life) since 5.5.2022

Your health is in ur hands (and feet) 😊

Personal experience...part 1 I totally undervalue Personal experience...part 1

I totally undervalued the importance of walking and the impact it can have in reversal of diseases till I was written a diabetes pill as my levels were 200 pre and 300 post.

Not that I wasn’t warned and advised before in 2012 when I got a stent and the doc warned me to maintain weight and keep up the walking as part of lifestyle. But as with time and all things, once life becomes hunky-dory (with popping pills) you feel you have conquered it all.

So with the new addition to the list of pills I was on, I decided to take things in control, make lifestyle changes and put a permanent end to this pill pocking maniac I was becoming. Was already on pills for high bp, a blood thinner, cholesterol control and now this - top of the line pill to manage diabetes. Quite a line up!

I decided to use tech and data to first understand the how, what, when, why of my body, the food I eat and what is the impact of changing Lifestyle which has to be permanent one.

I put a CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) device, got an intelligent scale, a bp monitoring set and started logging food (time, meal types and portions), bp, weight and sugar levels. In life we get so bogged up with routine that health is never a priority until we hear the wake-up bell. For me I’ve been hearing a bell every year for the last 10years and this time I decided - no more.

Ask these Qs Well the answer is pretty common an Ask these Qs

Well the answer is pretty common and we take it for granted and very casually -> you need to take these pills forever!

And doctors are right! because you have asked to treat the symptoms and get a normal blood report, they did their job right. You never asked how to treat the disease and get rid of it completely!

Why? Because you want to continue sitting on a couch for hours, eating what you love to eat, binge on junk foods, home deliver everything and look at the phone all the time. Covid has only made all these worse and you are now addicted to a sedentary, indoors, disease loaded life.

How can a doctor treat all these old and covid acquired habits with medicines ? This is how your life has become and that’s why its called Lifestyle. The disorders / diseases that you are going to your doc for getting treated with medicines for which he has only temporary symptom treating pills and not a permanent cure is because these are “Lifestyle diseases”.

You are the only cure for yourself !

Change your Lifestyle, get rid of these disease causing habits and you will be medicine and disease free forever.

We wish this for you.

Move to Millets Do you wake up with stiffness in Move to Millets

Do you wake up with stiffness in body, body-aches, brain fog or feel drained after sleeping or feel like staying in the bed forever?

Well the real reason for this is your gluten-rich diet that comes from wheat breads, parathas, cakes and cookies we eat during the day. The gluten from the wheat sticks to your gut lining and prevents any absorption of nutrients, minerals and vitamins, depleting it from the body as it uses it up daily. The result is stiff body, aching body and not waking up fresh !

Millets clean-up this ‘gluten-lining’ and free you from those aches and pains.

This one reason to wake up fresh every morning “ is a strong alone reason to shift to millets slowly from a standard wheat and rice diet and incorporate them into your lives.

Start with a congee for breakfast instead of a paneer paratha or eat a ragi idli and keep this up for a week => you’ll see how your body changes.

Swipe through other images in the post for some Millet Do’s and Don’ts to help you surf smoothly into the ocean of wellness with Millets.

MAD meals How to get out of that crazy 'all the t MAD meals

How to get out of that crazy 'all the time hungry' feeling called "craving".

Let's understand craving first. The most common understanding we all have is that you feel hungry all the time because you lack certain vitamins and then the next thing we obviously do is jump onto the pill popping wagon thinking it is going to be the ultimate cure. Well, people pop pills all their lives and if they really worked there would be a certain time after which you wouldn't need them. Right ?

So here's the thing 👉 though certain vitamins do come from pills but the food you eat is the only real stuff you need to change!

So circling back to the question, those damn cravings are a result of glucose 'spike and crash' that happen inside everyone of us. You are hungry, you eat a cake, 'spike' your glucose beyond 110 and then the body has to push hard (insulin's job) to bring it to a normal level which causes a 'crash'. Once the glucose levels have crashed you are hungry again and then you make that "golden mistake" (which we all do) and that is eat a high carb meal (read cola, brownie) Instead, a fruit, soaked nuts or even a glass of coconut water should have been the option.

Eating a MAD meal (cooked millets, 150g) once a day can get you out of this endless cycle that we find ourselves stuck with. In this post is a pic of Kodo Biryani with lot of veggies, if eaten for dinner ends all cravings (specially the ones we get post 11 😉). So grab a pack of unpolished millets and try it out for yourself.

PS : don't forget to eat plenty of fruits and salads. They are like firemen for those cravings and help to break the endless 'spike-crash' cycle. Staying 80% raw vegan and eating 20% cooked food (millets and moong dal) works like magic. Try it out for 3 days and you'll see the magic.

Damn, that was a long PS but you got the message 🤣

Another restaurant Salad - this is the magic miss Another restaurant

Salad - this is the magic missing from most of our diets. This is the fibre you should be putting into the gut "before any meal".

Raw Salad / Veggies are 'MAC' foods i.e Microbiota Accessible Carbs - this is what your gut microbes love the most and this is their real food.

Make a promise to yourself to eat a Salad before every meal and see your health improving in no time. A lot of good activities will start to happen inside your gut as these are gut cleansing and healing foods.

PS : amount of salad to be eaten is body weight X 5 in gms, if you weigh 70kgs, eat 350g salad before lunch and dinner.

Barnyard Millet Don't wana bore you with all the Barnyard Millet

Don't wana bore you with all the nutritional info, recipes, etc there's a plethora of this stuff available on the net.

Coming to the point, you need to work on one thing and one thing only 👉 blood glucose because everything depends on this single factor alone.

You need to have a “steady, non spiking, not crashing glucose” level throughout the day.

Why steady glucose levels :
1. Better sleep
2. Healthy heart
3. Reduced cravings (mother of all evil)
4. Always in a good mood

What has millets got to do with glucose ?
Millets is nature’s “slow—sugar-release” technology. It comes with high fibre, protein and some damn good antioxidants and vitamins. Its like nature’s “one-grain-all-solution” kind of thing. This is a super hack grain that you must switch to from rice, wheat and maida.

Barnyard millet is a multi utility millet, versatile and we've been eating this mostly during fast/upvas in various forms. It fills you up nicely so no more hunger pangs !

Its a “Small grain” which makes a “Big difference”.

PS : tomorrow is full moon day, plan all your meals with millets and sleep better.
